Preliminary data released from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports last year’s traffic fatality statistics.
While Colorado’s traffic fatalities decreased by 12 percent or 73 lives, Wyoming’s number of fatalities increased by 15 percent. Wyoming State Troopers say increased traffic volume on the state’s roads may be a contributing factor to the increase in deaths.
Nationally, there were 16 states that had a five percent or more drop in deaths on roadways.
